Ami Simms Alzheimer Quilts

These are quilts in support of Ami Simms and her Priority: Alzheimers project. Hopefully, they will be sold and the money paid for them will go to Alzheimer research.

"Her Brightness Fades"
Created: September 11, 2007
Size: 9" x 9"

This quilt is in honor of my maternal grandmother. She has Alzheimer's and I've watched her memories fade over the years. Today, she does not remember being married, having children, or being a grandparent. This quilt top symbolizes her fading memories in that the red fades from the top to the bottom of the quilt.
"Blue As Her Eyes"
Created: September 11, 2007
Size: 9" x 9"

This quilt is in honor of my maternal grandmother. The blue background is for her blue eyes. The diminishing color in the stripes represent how the color has drained from her daily life. And the crystals illustrate how her life shined bright as an inspiration to others, and how that brightness has dimmed.
