A Piece of American History

Quilts are part of our heritage. Since the founding of this country, Americans have used quilts to tell a story, weave a history, keep warm, cuddle their children, and pass on their legacy to successive generations.

As a native Midwesterner, I grew up working with needle and thread. I was 6 years old when I was taught how to embroider by both my mother and grandmother. I had a toy sewing machine (a Sew Perfect, remember those?) as a child and I was still in elementary school when I learned how to use a real sewing machine.

I always wanted to quilt, but didn’t know where to begin. In 1997, I made my first baby quilt for a friend, and I was hooked. After many years of creating quilts for myself and as gifts, I decided I wanted to expand my quilting skills and purchased a longarm quilting machine. I had so much fun with it that I wanted to share my skills with other quilters. Hence, Valerie Custom Quilting was born!

My quilting on your quilt top will enhance the beauty of your fabric choices, pattern choice, and piecing skills. My custom-made quilts are designed and made to express the stories of their owners through the art of quilting. Any blanket can keep you warm - a quilt by Valerie Custom Quilting can be used, cuddled, washed, and dried for years, and then passed down to successive generations.

I take great care in ensuring the high quality of the quilting I perform and the quilts I create. There are no smokers living in my home so you will never receive a stinky quilt from me. Our two cats are not allowed in my quilting room, so you will not find cat hair or allergens on any quilt I've worked on. I also prewash all my custom-made quilts before I send them to you... I want to be certain they're as clean and soft as possible when they reach their new owner.
